While we've been the first to hold public officials feet to the fire on any number of issues, we're a bit confused by the furor regarding the cancellation of a proposed diversity conference for the community and community leaders in the Bedford Central School District. We're also surprised that superintendent Jere Hochman so readily cancelled the conference, stating that the district was "not ready" for that type of training.
